Working with Warrington residents to improve their community

Clarion

Our Resident Involvement team started an online group for Warrington residents. The group created a safe, open space where residents could share concerns about their community and work together to create an action plan to address them.

Since November 2023, we’ve been meeting with our Warrington residents every six weeks. These meetings give residents a chance to talk openly about what matters to them.

In our most recent meeting, our team were joined by the local Police Community Support Officers (PCSO), and we’ve also started working closely with the Warrington Council to make positive changes.

The main topics of discussions were:

  • Fly-tipping (illegal dumping of waste)
  • Ground and tree maintenance
  • Anti-social behaviour

Tackling fly-tipping

Fly-tipping has been a big problem on the estate, putting pressure on our caretakers and upsetting residents. After six months of collecting evidence and working with the Warrington Council and PSCO, we’ve now installed CCTV cameras in areas where fly-tipping happens most often. This has helped reduce incidents, and made residents feel listened to and supported.

Improving grounds and tree maintenance

Grounds maintenance has also improved with more regular checks from our housing team, and we’ve trimmed trees around the estate where needed.

Addressing anti-social behaviour

To help tackle anti-social behaviour, we provided each resident with a poster showing how to report different types of crime. We also have a strong partnership with the local PCSO, who now use the Warrington office as a base. This helps them not only monitor the estate but to also build personal connections with residents.

Looking ahead

We want to thank all residents who take part in these group discussions. Your feedback is incredibly valuable in helping us shape and improve the services we provide, ensuring we address the needs of our community.
