Clarion tenant, Robert Skipp, affectionately known as ‘Bob’, is a real life example of how residents can make a positive difference to their neighbourhood and local community.
Bob, 73, from Borehamwood, spends most of his day walking through his local estate to report repairs, go shopping for those less able, and attend various community meetings to ensure that residents have a voice. Since the COVID-19 outbreak began, he has worked in partnership with Leecliffe Big Local Trust and Clarion Housing to make a positive and lasting difference to the residents of his community. One of the initiatives started has been a colour-coded cards system for vulnerable residents to put in their front window or door to indicate their needs. A green card means everything is ok and a red card means that the resident needs something like groceries or prescriptions. Bob or another volunteer will then go and get what their neighbours require all while keeping to social distancing guidelines.
With this type of support, Bob maintains the sense of community he has been instrumental in building, inspiring others to pull together in these challenging times.
